Castel Ritaldi
The countryside of Spoleto is disseminated by small fortified towns, medieval castle and towers, churches decorated with fine frescoes: half-way between Spoleto and Montefalco, also Castel Ritaldi is a pictoresque little medioval town.
It is situated on the place where was a Roman vicus; it preserves a noble castle of the 12th century, the Church of Santa Marina (14th century), with an interesting fresco by Tiberio d'Assisi, and the Church of San Nicola, with a beautiful portal.
Near the town there is the Pieve of San Gregorio in Nido (12th century), with a portal of the same period; the rose-window, which we can see on the belfry, was formerly on the façade.
The communal territory of Castel Ritaldi , mainly agricultural, is part covered by olives producing one of the best olive oil in the region.
