Corciano

The Castle
|
Corciano is a little medieval town situated on a hill 5 miles from Perugia, on a detour of the road (state Highway 75 bis) to Lake Trasimeno.
The town - municipality since 1200 - was under the rule of Perugia until the 16th century, when it was annexed to the Papal State and it became Corgna family's domain.
Corciano is a typical little medieval hill-town, surrounded by a fine circuit of walls and fortified towers; the castle, a very picturesque building, dominates the maze of narrow alleys - often flights of steps - which go to the principal squares where interesting public buildings are situated.
worth seeing ...
The town offers the visitor many charming monuments: the Palazzo comunale (XVIth cent.), the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, the church of San Cristoforo (1537), the church and the convent of Sant'Agostino, the Etruscan tombs of Strozzacapponi and many others interesting things.
In the municipal land there are many natural beauties and enchanting little villages inabited as far back as the most ancient times: Capocavallo, Castelvieto, Chiugiana, Mantignana, Migiana, San Mariano, Solomeo and the wonderful mountain of Monte Malbe.
