Giano dell'Umbria
The small town of Giano is placed in the middle of an imaginary triangle which has as vertices the towns of Spoleto, Todi and Montefalco.
Typical medieval hill town, Giano was originated by the union between two castles, and its medieval city walls preserves Roman remains.
At the centre of the town there are the piazza and the Commune, where you can admire some Roman relics found in a villa situated in the surrounding countryside.
Other interesting places to visit are the Pieve - with an external 12th - century apse - and St. Michael - with the external walls and part of the interior built in the 14th century.
Not far from the town you can find you can see the Church of St. Francis (14th century), where important frescoes, attribuited to Giovanni di Corraduccio - a painter from Foligno - have been brought to light again.
Another interesting church to visit in the surroundings is St. Felix abbey, a fine Romanesque building with nave and two aisles.
And, around, the splendid countryside…
