... environs of Gualdo Cattaneo

Just a few kilometers from the municipality are found a number of picturesque castles dating for the most part from the 13C.
Barattano conserves considerable remains of the 1452 outer walls.
Cerallo takes its name from the goddess Ceres, wor-shipped in Roman times on this lofty site (Cereris Altior).
Cisterna has an important castle dating from the 14C - 15C.
Grutti has a late IIC castle. The place takes its name from the numerous underground grottoes where early Christians took refuge.
Sights include the remains of ancient walls and towers, the structure known as the "Torrione" towering over the castle, and the Romanesque Church of S. Maria di Agello.
Marcellano (12C) includes the Romanesque Church of S. Angelo containing elaborate frescoes.
Pomonte is the name of a castle located in the midst of woods and olive groves. In 1415 Pope Gregory XII made the location a barony and had an imposing palazzo built there for his family. The palace is still extant. Pozzo is a castle surrounded by olive groves.
San Terenziano takes its name from the Saint and first Bishop of Todi, buried here in the latter half of the 2C.
The well preserved I 5C castle is built of travertine from local quarries. Other sights include the Church of S. Apollinare (13C) and the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie (15C). A curious feature of the Church of S. Apollinare is that it is formed by two superimposed churches, the upper one (11C - 12C) consecrated to S. Terenziano and the lower one (12C - 13C) consecrated to S. Fiacco. Saragano is a nearly intact Longobard castle.
Torri takes its name from the numerous, nearly intact towers forming pan of the outer walls.
The parish church houses an exhibit of butterflies and bee-tles and a herbarium.
