Monteleone di Orvieto, 45 Km. from Orvieto, lies at a height of about 500 m. above sea level, on the mountains which separate the District of Orvieto from Cittą della Pieve.
The most striking feature are the spacious green zones on all sides of the urban center which dates back to medieval times and is characterised by the widespread use of brick in which a noteworthy artistic-historic patrimony is still present.
Of particular interest are the works of art in the Collegiata and the Church of the SS. Crocefisso.
Of the various events organised in the town, the most interesting is the traditional "Rimpatriata" (or "Get-together"), which takes up almost the entire month of August with various festivals and fours, some of which are cultural and commemorate historical events such as the historical procession with the contests between the houses of Montemarte and Marsciano on August 16th. At Christmas the entire town is involved in a historical recreation of the Bethlehem of 2000 years ago with the "Nativity tableaux".
The most active of the hamlets is that of Santa Maria where a women's organisation, known as "Terradilei", devotes itself to the problems faced by women.
Two buildings are of particular importance to the town: a new and modern large gymnasium and a historical theatre "Dei Rustici" built in 1732. Recently renovated, it is now a lively center for various activities.
