Lake and parks

Lake of Corbara

A large artificial lake was created to provide hydro-electric power by damming up the river Tiber.
The lake and the surrounding area are part of the River Park of the Tiber, recently set up as a protected nature reserve. The deeply indented shoreline moves on into a narrow deep gorge, almost all the way to Todi (Gola del Forello).
This marvelous environment is ideal for sports such as fishing and canoeing, as well as white-water rafting in the nearby Forra di Prodo.
These two protected natural environments have been equipped with picnic areas and facilities for free time and open-air events; they also are furnished with small refreshment huts and with marked hiking trails.

Parks of the Sette Frati and Villalba

The area of Sette Frati, adjacent to the River Park of the Tiber, spreads out over 25 hectares on the slopes of Mount Peglia, 800 m. above sea level, with a sweeping panorama over the valley of the Tiber, with the Lake of Corbara and the Nature Reserve (Oasis) of Alviano, the valley of the Paglia and the crag of Orvieto; from the panoramic outlook of Monte Piatto the eye embraces Todi, Perugia and Assisi, all the way to the Apennine ridge.
The flora is characterized by oak forests and wild flowers of many kinds. The wild animals, with many deer and mouflon, are those found throughout the region.

The area of Villalba, which borders on the Nature Reserve of Monte Rufeno in Lazio, consists of 25 hectares of oak forests including beech and chestnut trees and rare wild flowers; located 750 m. above sea level, it is equipped with marked trails connected with the network of trails in the district and in Monte Rufeno.
