Preci

S. Eutizio

Abeto
|
Three valleys, the Castoriana, the Oblita, and the Campiano, meet at Preci as if at a crossroads.
Preci is a centre for many different cultures, boasting marvels formed by nature and by the hand of man, ranging from the prehistoric caves of Abeto, to the Abbey of Saint Eutizio, to the treasures kept in Saint Martin's church in Abeto and in Saint Bartholomew's church in Todiano.
What most surprises the visitor is not only the quantity but also the consistently high quality of the artefacts to be found even in the smallest hamlets, often home to a mere handful of families.
This is explained by the ancient tradition of cultural links with the distant lands of Tuscany; for this same reason it is possible to hear Sienese or Fiorentine influences in the local dialect.
Preci is home to Science as well as to Art: the doctors who today specialize in microsurgery for the treatment of eye defects or kidney diseases are following in the footsteps of those who became famous throughout Europe from the fourteenth century onwards for their work in relieving the sufferings of the sick.
